Our congregation began in 1917 as a Sunday School and Mission outpost of the First Church of the Brethren in Northwest Roanoke, Virginia. By 1923, the congregation had expanded enough to be organized independently of our parent congregation. The first section of the current Church building was completed in 1925, with additions made in 1937 and 1952 (check dates). Throughout our history, the Ninth Street Church of the Brethren has partnered in ministry with the other Church of the Brethren congregations in the area and the other Churches in the Southeast neighborhood. Today these partnerships are expressed in the form of our connection with the Virlina District of the Church of the Brethren and the Southeast Roanoke Christian Partnership. We continue to seek the presence of God as we strive to live out our calling to be disciples of Jesus in word and action. We are committed to being the hands and feet of Jesus both in the Southeast neighborhood and in the larger community.

Family Fun Night tonight at 6. Pastor Dan grilling hotdogs, Christian Ed, (that's a committee, not a person) providing the rest! Come play or watch our Family Feud!
Graduation Sunday! Recognized three very lovely ladies and their accomplishments.
Celebrating our three high school graduates and friends on Sunday. From Easter bonnets to caps and tassels. A potluck lunch and cake will follow worship.
Happy Mother's Day and blessings to all female mentors. Krispy Kreme doughnuts for the ladies!

Palm Sunday coming up! Our children are asked to line up at the door and prepare to wave Palms in the service. After worship, the youth invite you to an Easter lunch with ham, baked potatoes, baked beans,green beans, bread and dessert. A donation of $8.00 each will help us buy new chairs for the youth room! Take out orders will be available.
Bowling...celebrating a year of fundraising!
Roundtable at Bridgwater College...the last one for our seniors, Betsy and Hannah. The theme was "Seeking Serenity". Dennis Beckner provided the lessons, and IYC hosted workshops, singing, and devotions. Some northern snow shortened Sunday's activities, but failed to dampen our spirits. (We missed Madelyn, but support her as she starts her orientation as a student at Radford University.)
Due to icy road conditions, we are cancelling Wednesday Evening Bible Study tonight. Stay safe everyone.
The youth did it again. A delicious spaghetti lunch after worship included free take home photos with each meal. The fellowship hall looked beautiful and our youth earned enough money to attend Roundtable and have a day out. Thank you, Church, for acknowledging their hard work through your generosity.
Join us for a Spaghetti Lunch after church on Sunday, Feb. 10. The menu is spaghetti, bread, salad, and ice cream. The cost is $6/person, with a family cap of $25. We will have a photo booth with a take home picture included in your donation. All proceeds will benefit our Youth fund. Money earned will help pay retreat registrations, room improvements, and other expenses. We have three junior highs who will join our senior highs this year. We are anxious to serve you!
We are celebrating ministry milestones for two special people from Ninth Street. Tabitha Hartman Rudy will be installed as pastor of the Smith Mountain Lake church tomorrow at 10:00 A.M. Be in prayer for Tabitha and the SML congregation as they begin this ministry together. Pray also that Pastor Dan and Tabitha, though serving separate congregations, will find ways to pastor others and enrich their own relationship with each other. Brother Rod Quinn will be ordained to the set-apart ministry tomorrow at the Blue Ridge CoB at 4:00 P.M. Rod, his wife Amy, and their children Caleb, Shannon, and Hannah have found creative ways to stay active at Ninth Street while serving and getting to know the Blue Ridge congregation. Pray that Rod will feel the support of his family and friends as he journeys into this next path of his ministry. You are invited to each of these services. Praise God for our congregation which continues to send forth ministers in Jesus' name.
